Prior to the recent code changes
there was little reason to go
through the costly certification and
development process for flame resistant garments. Up until the new
regulations there were only a few
companies who supplied a limited
selection of flame resistant
garments. Unfortunately these
complacent companies had a tendency
to charge a premium price for a
mediocre product. Often times
workers were forced to buy certain
brands at high prices because they
had no choice.
Things have changed with the
introduction of new code changes in
2004 and since Benchmark opened its
doors in 2002. Changes to NFPA,
requiring FR garments has changed
the industry from sleepy niche into
a growing sector of the personal
protection equipment/safety
industry. In true American fashion,
competition is creating a higher
level of performance. There are new,
more stringent codes & regulations,
there are also manufacturer’s such
as Benchmark who have created
superior products with price points
allowing every worker to be able to
afford the best PPE and safety
equipment. You no longer have to pay
too much for inferior protection. –
